Financial Assistance

We encourage all students to attend our weekly Financial Assistance Workshop.  This workshop is held  each Monday at 10:00am in Room 106 and covers grants, scholarships, and student loans.

Direct Loan (A student loan formerly known as a Stafford Loan) Loans are available to qualifying students for most of our programs. A Direct Loan may be available for students who meet the Federal guidelines for this type of financial aid. The purpose of the direct loan is to assist students with fees related to school attendance.  CAJ school policy states "Direct Loans related to programs under one year will be certified only for program costs not already covered by PELL and/or other scholarships." (CAJ Financial Aid Policy Manual, 2010)

Student Loan Consolidation is for borrowers who previously received FFEL Program loans and will now be receiving Direct Loans, a Direct Consolidation Loan may make payments more manageable by combining multiple federal student loans into one loan with one monthly payment.

  • For borrowers with student loans from multiple lenders, a Direct Consolidation Loan simplifies loan repayment. All the borrower’s eligible federal student loans are consolidated into one loan that is repaid in a single monthly payment to one servicer. A Direct Consolidation Loan has a fixed interest rate based on the weighted average of the interest rates of the loans consolidated.
  • To learn more about when a borrower may consolidate, the pros and cons of doing so, and the application process, student and parent borrowers should go to www.loanconsolidation.ed.gov or call the Direct Loan Consolidation Center at 800/557-7392 (TDD/TTY: 800/557-7395).

Private Student Loan If you need additional funds to attend school, you may want to apply for a Private Student Loan.  To apply, log in to https://www.wellsfargo.com/student/loans/index.jhtml and click the "Wells Fargo Collegiate Loan."  When it asks for your school, choose "Sacramento City Unified School District."
